VP Communications

The role of VP Communications oversees all internal and external communication strategies within an organization, ensuring alignment with its goals and values. They manage media relations, public affairs, and corporate messaging to maintain a positive brand image and foster relationships with stakeholders. Some typical responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the WESC website, social media, and WIN page
  • Create promotional materials for WESC events
  • Design custom apparel for the organization

VP Recruitment and Engagement

The role of VP Recruitment and Engagement spearheads member acquisition efforts, developing strategies to attract, assess, and onboard new members aligned with the organization’s objectives. They oversee engagement initiatives, fostering a positive work culture, and implementing programs to enhance retention and satisfaction. Some typical responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with and hosting WESC’s social and wellbeing, professional development, and freshman oriented events
  • Overseeing committees and committee leaders
  • Attending school organization fairs to promote WESC

VP Student Organizations

The role of VP Student Organizations oversees the coordination and support of various student clubs and associations within the College of Engineering. They work closely with student leaders to ensure they are included in the campus community and provided adequate resources to fulfill their goals. Some typical responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and hosting the Engineering Student Organization Fair (E-Bash)
  • Establish communication between organization leaders, WESC, and the CoE
  • Collaborate on efforts to improve the student experience

VP Finance

The role of VP Finance oversees all financial operations and strategies within an organization, ensuring efficient management of resources and adherence to financial regulations. They develop budgets, forecast financial performance, and provide analysis to support decision-making processes across committees. Some typical responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Keep a clear record of purchasing for events
  • Communicate with funding sources to ensure financial needs can be met
  • Assist with the grant/scholarship process for student organizations and students in the College of Engineering

Why should I apply?

WESC offers student leaders the opportunity to further develop skills like communication, problem-solving, time management, and adaptability, which are beneficial to showcase in the job recruiting process. Beyond becoming a better leader, the WESC leadership team is a great place to foster life-long relationships with other members, student organizations, and CoE staff. Additionally, leadership team members have the opportunity to travel fully funded to our National Conference (NAESC ELS) in the Spring semester!

Who can apply?

Any member of the College of Engineering is able to apply using the form linked above. Their information, preferences on positions, and question responses must be complete to be considered.

How does voting work?

Once the applicant’s information is collected, responses will be shared with the CoE student body and voting will commence. All members of the CoE can apply and vote for VP positions.

How much time is typically dedicated per week?

Our VPs from the 2023-2024 academic year spent 2-4 hours on WESC efforts weekly.
